Bluetooth Technology That Keeps Track of Your Fitness Progress
Many of you have used some form of technology to keep track of your fitness progress. Some use an app on your phone, while others use a fitness band that transmits data to your phone. I know there are still some of you out there that use tried and true paper and pencil / pen as well as a pedometer that just clicks along every time you take a step.
How many of you are using a caliper to calculate body fat? Do you know what your hydration levels are and are you curious about it? I’m sure you know that hydration level is important for many vital bodily functions as well as losing weight. What if I told you there is a device that will keep track of body fat levels, hydration levels, your weight, your BMI, BMR (basal metabolic rate) and your bone mass and it passed the information to your phone to keep track via bluetooth?
You guys! There is such a device! It’s from Adam Elements and it’s called the BF1 GoHealthy Scale. Now, this baby does all the above by just stepping on the scale. It takes mere seconds to measure your weight, BMI, hydration levels, body fat percentage and bone mass. All of this transfers to your phone via bluetooth into the GoHealthy App.

Weight Management
I’m not one to rely to heavily on a number on the scale for weight management in general because in strength training, it’s only a number. Your body composition will be different with more muscle mass than fat and will weigh more if you have more muscle than fat. You could be a 110 lb girl and be a “skinny fat” or a 140 lb girl that is thin and fit. However, that being said, the number on the scale can be a reference point of progress.
Measure Body Fat Percentage
This scale measures body fat percentage and to be fair I believe there is a 3% variance that has me a little disappointed. However, that number does give me a reference point as to whether it is going up or down by each time I measure. If I need that percentage to go up, I know I have to add to my diet. Likewise, if I need that percentage to go down, I know I have to add cardio and adjust my diet for fat loss. In the end, having that reference point is important in progressing forward.
Hydration
Hydration level is important for great skin, vital bodily functions and weight loss. I tend to stay somewhere in the mid range of hydration levels which means I need to up my intake of water. This measurement from the scale can help remind me to stay hydrated and increase my intake or decrease if I am overdoing it.
Basal Metabolic Rate
BMR or basal metabolic rate is the amount of energy per unit time that a person needs to keep the body functioning at rest. That’s the amount of caloric intake you need to just keep your body function without exercise. To me, this is very exciting to be able to see! That reference point tells me what I need without exercise and as long as I know approximately how many calories I’m going to burn doing exercise, I know what my total caloric intake will look like for the day.
Body Mass Index
BMI or body mass index is an attempt to measure muscle, bone and fat mass in the body. Commonly accepted BMI ranges are underweight: under 18.5, normal weight: 18.5 to 25, overweight: 25 to 30, obese: over 30. This measurement lets you know if you have a healthy body composition or if it needs to change for your overall health.
A Good Scale
This scale does all the above and with the GoHealthy app, you have access to graphs that show your progress over time and give you time to focus on your fitness goals without stopping to calculate all these numbers on your own. It’s worth the investment into your health. I love the features and look forward to utilizing the graphs and information to keep moving forward in my fitness journey.
